Meet Michael (Mike) Eye, who joined Piper's as our Head Golf Professional in 2006 after serving three years as our Assistant Head Professional. With an honor-heavy Bachelor’s from Florida State University, he later completed the PGA Class A Certification program in just 18 months.
Prior to joining us, Mike taught at The Duran Golf Club in Melbourne, Florida and The Golf Club at Summerbrooke in Tallahassee, FL. His preparation and qualifications are quite evident, as Mike teaches golfers of advanced experience levels, helping them to achieve their highest golf potential. For members who might prefer to learn in a group setting, Mike also conducts two clinics per week.
As for running our many golf events without a hitch, Mike makes it seem easy, as he has everything in order and organized to run smoothly. From our weekly Couples Step-Aside Scramble (between 100-140 members play this 9 hole event, then receive prizes and enjoy dinner), to men's and ladies events on an ever-continuing basis, our golf gatherings are plentiful.
Mike oversees our many golf-related vendors, ensuring the Golf Pro Shop is always ready with the latest in golf fashion, equipment and technology. Additional responsibilities include involvement in all golf activities, course conditions/markings, budget development and the oversight of the handicap system. Mike plays a critical role in ensuring all of the golfing needs of our members are delivered professionally and with a smile.
Be sure to meet Mike when you visit Piper’s. He’s a tremendous asset who loves what he does and is one of the reasons we all enjoy the golf environment we are so fortunate to have here.

Meet Shannon Easter, that rare breed known as a Florida native. He attended Jupiter High School and graduated from Lake City Community College in its Golf Turf Management program.
Immediately prior to joining Piper’s, Shannon was Director of Golf Maintenance at Craft Farms Golf, Gulf Shores, Alabama. There he was responsible for maintaining 54 holes of golf. Of note is the signature Arnold Palmer course, Cotton Creek, a test that can be stretched from 5200 to almost 7100 yards. Cypress Bend, a newer “sister” course to Cotton Creek, was named the 2008 #1 Most Playable New Course by Golf Digest Magazine.
Prior to Craft Farms, he managed for 7 years at PGA National Resort and Spa in Palm Beach Gardens, FL. There, he was Course Superintendent of the Champion Course, currently host to the Honda Classic and previously the home of the Senior PGA U.S. Open.
Shannon does a phenomenal job keeping our new Gene Bates renovated golf course in superb condition. His team varies from 18-22 professionals, one of whom is a Turf Equipment Technician who has been at Piper’s 17 years, operating a dedicated preventative maintenance schedule for our equipment.
One of Shannon’s initiatives was to implement programs necessary for Piper’s to obtain designation as a Certified Audubon Sanctuary from Audubon International. That speaks to the commitment we have to our natural environment and the protection of wildlife.
